Heathrow Airport Guide


London Heathrow airport is one of the major gateways to the United Kingdom, catering more than 1,50,000 passengers on a day-to-day basis. It is served by five terminals that feature shops, restaurants, cafes, lounges and more. Road link From Central London, Heathrow Airport is at an approximate distance of 15 miles. A major portion of the distance can be traversed by M4 motorway, while M25 directly leads to terminal 5.

Rail Link
Heathrow express operates continuous services to Paddington from terminal 5 for a journey time of 15 minutes. Services also commence from Heathrow Central station on terminals 1,2 and 3. Connectivity to terminal 4, is by means of Heathrow Connect.

Taxi services
While public transport involves long waiting hours at ticket counters no such issue arises when traveling by a cab. Traveling with extra luggage may cause difficulty due to space restrictions on public transport, such woes are overcome by taxis that offer safe and comfortable transfers along with luggage.

Terminal 1
Terminal 1 has now permanently closed.

Terminal 2
Terminal 2 involves operation of 30 airlines that permit an annual passenger movement of more than 8.5 million. After a temporary shutdown, it was renovated and renamed as The Queen’s Terminal. In combination with terminal 5, it is involved in domestic as well as international air traffic.

Terminal 3
Terminal 3 meets the comfort requirements of your family. It features amenities like children’s play area, kiosk for coffee and soft drinks, game and comfortable seating zones in departures. Passengers are greeted with a complementary drink in its business lounges and a travel spa relieves them of work stress. Besides, terminal 3 also boasts of fixed internet points, wireless hot spots, connectivity and postal facilities, medical care and lots more.

Terminal 4
Terminal 4 handles an annual passenger movement of over 14 million with 37 airlines operating to various locations. Passengers can enjoy a luxurious overnight stay in its Hilton London Heathrow T4 hotel. KLM Holideck Lounge by Servisair features amenities like toys, games, an arcade, magazines and complementary refreshments. Besides it is also home to various other shops, restaurants and other recreational facilities.

Terminal 5
Recent addition to the Heathrow airport is terminal 5. A home to three children’s play areas, shops, food areas, cafes, pubs and bars it is also regarded as the largest free standing building in the United Kingdom. For a sleepover, there is Sofitel London Heathrow hotel.
