Belfast International Airport Guide


Belfast is Northern Ireland’s largest city and the hub for all the administrative activities of the province. Located 13 miles to the northwest of this city is it's busiest international airport, Belfast International Airport, with services to a number of European destinations and an annual passenger movement of about 4 million. Formerly known as Aldergrove Airport, it is owed by the ADC and HAS.

To and from the airport
The airport is connected to the M2 motorway and offers both long stay and short stay parking options at reasonable prices. Buses and coaches are common transport links running between the airport and the city. There are three bus terminals that link you to different parts of Northern Ireland as well as the rest of the country. Translink is one of the fastest way of traveling from the airport to center of the city. There are also direct services running to Lisburn and Londonderry. Trains are not a common airport transfer in the case of the Belfast International airport, as the closest railway station being Antrim railway station at an approximate distance of 6 miles from the airport. Taxis are available outside the terminal building and can be hired easily.

The passenger terminal is well equipped with all facilities, restrooms, infant changeing rooms, currency counters, ATMS, prayer rooms and pay phones. The airport in it's entirely is a Wi-Fi zone with 60 minutes of free browsing. Internet kiosks are also found within the airport. An information desk for travelers is located in the arrivals area for all domestic and international passengers. Tourists can avail sufficient information about visitor attractions, onward travel and accommodation at this counter.

Shopping and Dining
The airport has a number of stores for both duty free and duty paid goods. Whether it is some last minute shopping of souvenirs or travel essentials or a boost to your holiday with cutting edge top class fashion, Belfast International airport has it all. The airport is also a good place to refresh before you start your long journey at restaurants that include Starbucks, Cafe Ritazza, Burger King, Strangford Grill, the Lagan Bar and the Cafe Bar.
